Chennai: A total of 375 children from government and non-government-funded children homes under the department of social defence will participate in a state-level annual sports meet and cultural events that is to be held on February 27 and 28 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kannappar Thidal in Periyamet.
The participants in the state-level sports meet, organised by the state government, had won the first two positions in the zonal level competitions. Earlier, the government sanctioned 25 lakh for conducting state level annual sports meet and cultural events for children of the 36 government and 147 non-governmental organisation run children homes under the department of social defence for the year 2022-2023.
The initiative was taken to identify the children’s talents and encourage them. 38 TN districts were divided into four zones and various competitions.
